ADGP Sanjeev Shami inaugurated Mega Free Eye Checkup camp in Road Safety Month

Eyes of 750 drivers examined in the camp of Sewa Sadan Eye Hospital

ADGP Sanjeev Shami inaugurated Mega Free Eye Checkup camp on Tuesday for drivers of public transport. This camp was organised by Sewa Sadan Eye Hospital in collaboration with the traffic police. As many as 750 drivers engaged in public transport got their eyes checked up.

This camp was organised under the theme “Parwah” for traffic awareness in the Road Safety Month. Out of these 280 drivers were found to have refraction error and 35 had symptoms of cataract. Sewa Sadan Eye Hospital provided them spectacles to 160 drivers with weak eyesight and free drops to 130 drivers, who were suffering from various eye ailments.

Apart from these, 52 drivers were advised to get their eyes checked up in Sewa Sadan Eye Hospital. The hospital had conducted free blood pressure and diabetes tests also. The traffic police also organized a training workshop for drivers in the auditorium of Mapcost, in which senior police officers informed them about traffic laws and instructed them to strictly follow these rules.

Additional Director General of Police Shri Sanjeev Shami told the drivers present at the camp that the eyesight of the drivers should be errorless because they have the responsibility to save the lives of people sitting in the vehicle and pedestrian. Drivers with weak eyesight can be more likely to incur road accidents, so all drivers should get their eyes checked regularly. Shri Shami said that now the trend of e-rickshaws has started in public transport. The speed of e-rickshaws is very low compared to other vehicles, due to which the chances of road accidents are also less. He commended the joint effort of traffic police and Sewa Sadan during Road Safety Month.

Bhopal Police Commissioner Shri Harinarayan Chari Mishra, Deputy Inspector General of Police Tushar Kant Vidyarthi, Additional Police Commissioner Shri Pankaj Srivastava, DCP Traffic Shri Sanjay Singh and Mapcast Director Dr. Anil Kothari, Sewa Sadan Eye Hospital Trustee Rajkumar Moolchandani, Ophthalmologist Dr. Neha Mota, Director Administration Kushal Dharmani, Hospital Administrator Anusha Tiwari were also specially present in the camp.
